Just in time for vday, I got a special video just for the fellas that are ready to up their game and start supporting the women in their lives 💗

And if you think it’s impossible for most men to grasp any understanding of the menstrual cycle, think again.

My own husband has basically become a menstrual cycle pro and I can’t even verbalize how much it means to me to feel so seen and understood. 

Just yesterday I woke up with a headache and commented to my husband that I wasn’t sure why I wasn’t feeling well. His response? “Well you didn’t eat much yesterday and don’t you need to be eating extra right before your period?” 🥲 that’s the kind of support we all need. 

[icymi women require 10-20% more calories in our luteal phase since we are stashing so many nutrients into our uterine lining in case of pregnancy]

Aren’t I a lucky lady? 
(P.S. pro tip here- this is where communication and intention are keyyyy- if you don’t communicate that you are trying to support her by giving her space, it could feel like abandonment [although most women I know would still be happy either way])

guys I know it's been awhile since I've shown up h guys I know it's been awhile since I've shown up here with a hottie hormone hack, but I'm here to revive this series.

If you are struggling with your hormones, one of the easiest places to start is with your breakfast. There are 3 golden rules to follow- 

1️⃣try to eat within 1 hour of waking up. Having an appetite when you wake up is actually a sign of a healthy metabolism 

2️⃣focus on including protein, fats, and carbs . I aim for 30 g of protein, this will keep you satiated for longer and prevent blood sugar crashes later on which can leave you feeling exhausted mid-morning. 

3️⃣always eat breakfast before drinking coffee, this will prevent a cortisol spike

I find that SO many women totally write off their I find that SO many women totally write off their premenstrual feelings as “PMSing” or “being hormonal” but did you know your premenstrual feelings and emotions are actually your most valid of the entire cycle? As your hormones drop and your intuition deepens, you can begin to view your life in a clear way without hormones swaying you. 

For this reason, I always encourage women to take note of what comes up for them premenstrually, especially if the same concerns are coming up, again and again, each cycle. 

For example, if every time you are in your premenstrual phase, you begin thinking that you want to change your career or go back to school, this is worth examining. If every premenstrual phase you begin feeling like maybe things aren't right in your relationship or that there's a lack of honesty, this is worth having a discussion around. If every premenstrual phase you feel like that one friend is just using you and doesn't have your best interest at heart...well you get the gist.

Now I do want to emphasize here that this really applies to women with balanced hormones. Not to imply that your feelings will all be invalid if your hormones are imbalanced, but with severe PMS or PMDD, this may not hold true and would need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
