✨Please join us for a cozy night of learning & c ✨Please join us for a cozy night of learning & connection. We will be discussing cycle syncing, hormones, & all things women's wellness.✨

Not sure what cycle syncing even is? No worries! This is a beginner level class & all levels of understanding are welcome. Cycle syncing is simply the act of intentionally aligning your lifestyle with your menstrual cycle. This can be as simple as prioritizing rest while on your period or as nuanced as changing your fitness routine in each phase. We will keep the learning piece under 30 minutes & allow time for discussion, connection, & intention setting.

You can grab a ticket in my bio. With the purchase of your ticket, you get access to the event as well as a handout on cycle-syncing to take home.

I'll be serving hormone-balancing tea so bring a mug if you'd like to partake ☕️🫖

PLUS feel free to stay for a Friday the 13th movie night that is happening at the space afterward!

Hope to see you there 💕
To all my fellows PCOS cysters ⬇️ I know how To all my fellows PCOS cysters ⬇️

I know how easy it is to skip over nervous system work when it feels like there’s a milllllion other things we have to do to keep those darn PCOS symptoms in check but I hope I can make a good case for why you shouldn’t:

Nervous system dysregulation is one of the most important (& overlooked) root causes of hormonal issues like PCOS (& now we finally a little bit of data to support this).

Disclaimer: this is NOT to say it’s “all in your head”. Early traumatic experiences have a huge physical impact on our developing bodies, especially our HPA axis.

& unless we do the somatic work/limbic system retraining/vagus nerve work, trauma gets stuck in the body. (I recommend reading up on the polyvagal theory & reading “The Body Keeps the Score” as a starting point if you’re curious about this).

The good news: there are SO many amazing tools and programs available to help on this journey now. Some of my favorite ones are:

-limbic system healing programs (@primaltrust_official is my personal fave, DNRS and the Gupta Program are the other options)
-books: Waking the Tiger by Peter Levine, Wired for Healing by Annie Hopper, sooo many more
-somatic work: I love @theworkoutwitch_ programs or find a local somatic experiencing practitioner (SEP)
-vagus nerve work via things like: loud singing, humming, “vooo” breathing (making a “vooooo” sound on the exhale), submerging your face in ice water, chanting, gargling, foot massage, vagus nerve stimulators, & breathwork

In my opinion, every woman should include this type of work in their holistic PCOS treatment plan, but especially if they have chronic symptoms that don’t seem to respond to “all of the usual stuff”.

What’re your thoughts?⬇️

After working with many women in the hormone space After working with many women in the hormone space over the last few years, one striking conclusion has become obvious:

One of the most important (& most overlooked) root causes of hormonal imbalances (& many chronic symptoms/illnesses) is actually nervous system dysregulation.

There is an ever-growing mountain of research demonstrating that women who experience childhood trauma, especially physical or sexual trauma, have a significantly increased risk of developing hormonal imbalances or disorders.

One rigorous study that included over 60,000 women found that childhood trauma can increase your risk of developing endometriosis by up to 79% (!!!).

Now let’s talk some goods news & bad news:

The bad: until you give some attention to your nervous and limbic systems, it may be impossible to finally resolve your longstanding symptoms.

The good: there are SO many amazing tools and programs available to help on this journey now. Some of my favorite ones are:

-limbic system healing programs (Primal Trust is my personal fave)
-books: Wired for Healing by Annie Hopper & The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk
-vagus nerve work via things like: loud singing, humming, “vooo” breathing (making a “vooooo” sound on the exhale), submerging your face in ice water, chanting, gargling, foot massage, & breathwork

In my opinion, every woman should include this type of work in their holistic treatment plan, but especially if they have chronic symptoms that don’t seem to respond to “all of the usual stuff”.

Over the years I’ve tried pretty much every tracking app and they’ve all had their pros & cons but I have never been as obsessed with an app as I am with Stardust.

I mean just the ✨aesthetics✨ alone are amazing but it also has a TON of super useful features. PLUS it’s woman-owned. 🥹

Anyone else completely overwhelmed with the amount Anyone else completely overwhelmed with the amount of health content freely available online and on social media now? 🙋🏻‍♀️😵‍💫

On one hand, it’s amazinggg to have access to so much information that our moms, aunts, grandmas, etc didn’t...but it’s also discouraging AF & the analysis paralysis is real.

Every week there’s some new “magic 💊” that promises to get rid of all of your woes (lately I can’t go 5 minutes without seeing an influencer talk about how colostrum has changed their life and cured all of their symptoms).

If you feel like you don’t know where to start, let me break it down:

basics > biohacks always

I know it’s not novel or sexy or it may seem too simple, but trust me when I say if you aren’t eating nourishing foods, getting a solid night of sleep, moving your body regularly, or managing your stress, no supplement or “biohack” is going to ‘fix’ your symptoms.

No matter who you are or what symptoms you’re dealing with, ALWAYS focus on mastering the foundations first before adding gobs of supplements, expensive wearables , or the latest and greatest biohacking equipment.

You might be surprised by how far this alone gets you.

The simplest things to do are also the simplest thing not to do.

AND if you’re still wanting a little bit more guidance on mastering the foundations, I’ve got a $0.00 guide for ya in my bio 🙂

Who else wishes they would’ve learned in health Who else wishes they would’ve learned in health class that there’s only a handful of days each cycle that you can actually get pregnant? 🙋🏻‍♀️

I was embarrassingly far along in my cycling years before I ever even learned exactly how my ovulation and fertile window worked...by this point I had already been on birth control for years.

So what is your 6(ish) day fertile window?

It’s the 5 days before ovulation + 1 day after.

Once you ovulate, the egg only stays “alive” for 4-24 hours, after which point it begins to break down and pregnancy is no longer possible. The other 5 days are actually the 5 days BEFORE ovulation because sperm can survive in your reproductive tract for this long.

Said another way: if you have unprotected sex in the 1-5 days before you ovulate, sperm can hang out and wait for the egg and fertilize it as soon as you ovulate (we actually secrete certain types of cervical mucous to nourish the sperm & keep them alive!)

If you’re wanting to prevent pregnancy but you’re not on birth control, avoid unprotected sex in this 6ish-day window (i.e. use a barrier method like condoms or focus on non-penetrative play).

Once you’ve cleared this window, pregnancy isn’t possible for the rest of the cycle 🙂

(& P.S. even though I’ve said this a million times, here goes a million+1: I am NOT anti-birth control but I am PRO-informed consent & believe women should be offered alllll of the options, with a thorough discussion of risks/benefits of each one before making a decision.)

Just know, there are other EQUALLY effective ways to prevent pregnancy besides hormone birth control (!!!)- something I wish I would’ve known from the get-go.
